Easily one of the best films of the 2000s we present a special screening of the legendary 'Bootleg Cut' of Cameron Crowe's coming of age rock music odyssey Almost Famous. The autobiographical tale of Crowe himself (writer of Fast Times At Ridgemont High and director of Say Anything, Singles, Jerry Maguire and Vanilla Sky) it charts his experiences as a 15 year old lieing about his age in order to join a rock band on the road and write an article for Rolling Stone magazine (a magazine he would later become a contributing editor for). Packed with nostalgia for the 70s rock scene Crowe's remarkable screenplay offers wit and wisdom in abundance and this rarely seen special 'Bootleg' cut is one of the most gloriously personal major motion pictures ever released. This funny, honest, deeply heartfelt cut of the film is both a brilliant odyssey of innocence (hurtling towards adulthood) as well as one of the greatest movies about music ever made. Blessed with a remarkable ensemble cast that includes Billy CrudupFrances McDormandKate Hudson, Zooey Deschanel, Anna Paquin, Fairuza Balk and Philip Seymour Hoffman this newly minted 20th anniversary 4K remaster is the perfect opportunity to experience this modern classic.
