White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Autumn Screen presents

SUNDAY NOVEMBER 1ST

 SUNDAY DOUBLE MONSTER FEATURE

FRANKENSTEIN + THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN (1931 + 1935)

DIRECTOR: James Whale

STARRING: Colin Clive, Boris Karloff, & Elsa Lanchester.

Part of Universal's Studios original line-up of monster movies, the 1931 Frankenstein has defined all subsequent horror / monster movies to come. With it's electrifying(!) yet tender central performance from the great Boris Karloff it tells the story (from Mary Shelley's classic novel) of Scientist Dr. Henry Frankenstein who meddles with the forces of life and death ("It's alive... IT'S ALIVE") to create a patchwork monster from dug up body parts. The inevitable series of unintended consequences follows. This box office triumph then resulted in the creation of one of the best film sequels ever conceived in The Bride Of Frankenstein, because.... every monster needs a mate! These two films have 100% and 98% scores on Rotten Tomatoes respectively and make for one the great cinematic double bills of all time. Featuring some of the most iconic sequences and characters ever committed to celluloid from Karloff's staggering, menacing, sensitive  monster to Elsa Lanchester's shocking streak of black and white hair as 'the bride', these two films are as brilliantly entertaining today as they were upon their original 1930's release and it's clear even to modern viewers why these two classics have left such an indelible impression upon cultural history.
