White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Summer Screen presents

THURSDAY JULY 15TH

MINARI (2020)

DIRECTOR: Lee Issac Chung

STARRING: Steven Yeun, Han Ye-ri, Alan Kim, Noel Kate Cho, Youn Yuh-jung, and Will Patton.

Lee Isaac Chung’s Minari is a semi-autobiographical tale about a Korean-American family attempting the sometimes tricky task of settling into 1980’s rural Arkansas. Full of deeply felt personal experiences weaved into Chung's understated storytelling style, Minari is one of the year's most critically acclaimed films with it's six Oscar nominations, Best Foreign Language Film win at The Golden Globes, U.S. Dramatic Grand Prize Win at Sundance and three Screen Actors Guild Award nominations, 10 Critics' Choice Movie Awards nominations, and six Independent Spirit Award nominations. Featuring a handsome set of performances from the entire cast portraying the Yi family, Minari brims with authenticity with particularly excellent turns by The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun, vetereran Korean screen actress Youn Yuh-jung (who won the Best Supporting Actress at the Oscars, the Sag Awards AND the Baftas for her work here) and a beautifully understated but still showstealing performance from 7 year old newcomer Alan Kim. Warm but never overly sentimental, tough but never overly melodramatic Minari is one of must see movies of recent times and superlative example of familial drama done right.
