White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Summer Screen presents

|| What is secret movie club? ||

Our "Secret Movie Club" project takes a movie you most likely haven't seen before (but will instantly love) and keeps the identity of the movie a secret, only revealing which film you are watching when the opening credits roll. The aim is to provide you with a brilliant forgotten or overlooked gem from cinema's past or present. Every time we do these events we get such phenomenal feedback from you guys. It's incredibly rewarding to have people say to us they had never even heard of the movie we screened for them, but that it is now instantly among their favourites! Keep an eye out for clues on social media as the event draws nearer!

|| The Anti-Blockbuster Season - No Joker ||

The Anti-Blockbuster season gets to the very heart of the White Wall Cinema mission, which is to provide an alternative to the mainstream mass marketed films in your local multiplex.  In this series we provide an answer or riposte to some of the biggest earning blockbusters of recent times with a screening of another movie that either inspired (or was ripped off by) the blockbuster in question or indeed one that we think is similar but does the job better. Todd Phillip's Joker is a blockbuster movie dressed up as art house cinema. The movie whilst slickly shot and stylised, is in actuality another in the long list of superficial super hero movies that is keeping great cinema off screens worldwide, a cash cow to be milked for Hollywood studios (the biggest grossing movie of the year outside of Disney releases), Joker is in the end, a tribute act mimicking previous greats of American cinema. Come see a film that hits the mark that Joker misses with a special screening of a great in-spite of Hollywood classic that inspired Joaquin Phoenix's stint in clown make up. Whether you loved or hated Joker, this is the movie for you if the film inspired negative or positive feelings of any kind. Come see the movies behind the movies at the anti-blockbuster season. Grab tickets now and keep your eyes peeled for more hints about this great mystery movie.
