White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Winter Screen presents

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21ST

THE IRISHMAN

(2019)

 PRECEDED BY A SPECIAL INTRODUCTION

DIRECTOR: Martin Scorsese

STARRING: Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, and Joe Pesci, with Ray Romano, Bobby Cannavale, Anna Paquin, Stephen Graham, and Harvey Keitel.

Remarkably unsuited for streaming services, Martin Scorsese's latest opus is a singular cinematic experience uniquely suited to a theatrical presentation. A now grand master working at the height of his powers Scorsese's new crime epic simply doesn't get it's message across in home viewing and demands the big screen communal experience. A philosophical meditation on a life dedicated to ill gotten gains, Scorsese's powerful third act here is amongst his and De Niro's finest ever work and surely one of the most quietly powerful climaxes in screen history. An unmatched array of screen talent that includes another fabled union of DeNiro & Pacino (in his long awaited first appearance for Scorsese) and an astonishing screen return (following a 20 year layoff from full time acting) for Joe Pesci whose performance garnered an abundance of critical acclaim. Unlike Scorsese's previous gangster based greats like Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Casino and The Departed, true life story The Irishman is a more mature deep dive into the life choices of truck driver turned career criminal for mob boss Russell Bufalino and his association with Teamster union boss Jimmy Hoffa with a level of intricacy, thoughtfulness and consideration rarely managed by even the greatest of directors.
