White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Spring Screen presents
SUNDAY MAY 30TH
(BANK HOLIDAY SPECIAL)
THE LEGEND OF THE STARDUST BROTHERS (1985)
DIRECTOR: Macoto Tezuka
STARRING: Shingo Kubota, Kan Takagi and Issay.
Billed by critics as Thriller meets Rocky Horror, combined with Bill & Ted, there are truly no words to explain the madcap genius contained within The Legend of the Stardust Brothers. This wildly fun cult movie is a riff on Brian DePalma's Phantom of the Paradise and tells the story of two Japanese pop singers who dream of stardom. When a mysterious all powerful music mogul repackages them as pop idols the Stardust Brothers setting the duo off on a mind bending odyssey of 80s Japanese ephemera that is one of the wildest rides in all of cinema. Packed with wonderfully weird 80s pop songs,
the Stardust Brothers is an improbably bizarre avant-garde new wave Japanese pop culture treat packed with eccentric camp sub culture aesthetics, special effects and make-up weirdness.
