White Wall Cinema's Socially Distanced Summer Screen presents
FRIDAY JULY 2ND
THIS IS SPINAL TAP (1984)
DIRECTOR: Rob Reiner
STARRING: Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer.
Often considered as the funniest film of all time, even in the career of Rob Reiner, director of Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally, Misery and A Few Good Men, this is considered his finest hour. This definitive rockumentary, mockumentary is one of the most influential and beloved cult films ever created as Reiner (as director Martin "Marty" Di Bergi) follows around the past their prime heavy metal act Spinal Tap on their American comeback tour. Given the dubious title of 'the world's loudest rock band' the trials and tribulations of the faultering tour plus the band's personality clashes are captured (and improvised) by the brilliant cast of Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Simpson's star Harry Shearer (a trio who would later go on to collaborate on the likes of Best In Show) to create this stonehenged sized monument of cinematic humour. Endlessly quotable, wryly observed and laugh out loud hilarious, Spinal Tap is a must attend Friday night at the socially distanced cinema.
