Edge of Seventeen director Kelly Fremon Craig returns to coming-of-age dramedy with this adaptation of the 1970s Judy Blume novel. Beloved for generations by women and girls for its refreshing frankness about early-adolescent anxieties, and its bewildering whirlwind of menstruation, brassieres and boys. This wonderfully light yet moving story of growing pains and family complexities is deftly and humorously executed by a great cast including Rachel McAdams, Benny Safdie, and Kathy Bates, fronted by the brilliantly talented Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret.
