POP UP CINEMA BRIGHTON

White Wall Cinema presents

THURSDAY DECEMBER 14TH

TOKYO GODFATHERS

DIRECTOR: Satoshi Kon

STARRING: Jon Avner, Shakina Nayfack, and Victoria Grace.

Our Christmas special is this wonderful tragicomedy about the homeless trio of an unruly middle aged alcoholic named ‘Gin’, a lonely but stoic trans woman Hana and rebellious runaway teenage girl Miyuki. When they find an abandoned baby one Christmas Eve, the ragtag bunch embark on a madcap adventure to find the baby’s parents. A soulful and decidedly grown up, yet accessible anime from the director of classics like Perfect Blue and Paprika, that perfectly embodies the Christmas spirit. Presented here in the wonderful new critically acclaimed translation / dub that has garnered plaudits from Anime fans worldwide and is being held up as a model of just how far Animation dubs have progressed.
